The same as the Emergency First Aid at Work Level 3 , with additional subjects required by the Forestry Commission.  

Course Information

For businesses that have completed a thorough risk assessment and determined that a fully qualified first aider is not required, our Emergency First Aid at Work Level 3 (VTQ) & (RQF) and Emergency First Aid at Work for Forestry Workers Level 3 (VTQ) courses provide the perfect solution. These programmes deliver essential life‑saving skills that are vital in emergency situations. The Forestry‑specific course also includes the additional subjects required by the Forestry Commission and has a minimum duration of 7 hours.


Our Emergency First Aid at Work Level 3 courses are available in blended, classroom, combined, and blended‑combined formats, offering flexibility to suit different workplaces and learning preferences.


The course content exceeds the standards set by the UK and European Resuscitation Councils (2025) and fully complies with the Health and Safety Executive’s Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, including all subsequent amendments. You can be confident that your team will gain the knowledge and practical skills needed to respond effectively and competently in an emergency.


At Every Second Counts First Aid & Safety Training, we are committed to delivering the highest levels of quality assurance and regulatory compliance. All courses undergo rigorous evaluation and are independently certified by ProTrainings, ensuring full alignment with recognised Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines.


Participants receive a 6‑hour CPD Statement for the Emergency First Aid at Work Level 3 (VTQ) and (RQF) courses, and a 7‑hour CPD Statement for the Emergency First Aid at Work for Forestry Workers Level 3 (VTQ) course.

Learning Outcomes

Unit One

1. Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider.

  • 1.1 Identify the role and responsibilities of a first aider.
  • 1.2 Identify how to minimise the risk of infection to self and others. 
  • 1.3. Identify the need for consent to provide first aid.

2. Be able to assess an emergency situation safely. 

  • 2.1 Conduct a scene survey. 
  • 2.2 Conduct a primary survey of casualty.
  • 2.3 Summon appropriate assistance when necessary. 

3. Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive 

  • 3.1 Identify when to administer Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). 
  • 3.2 Demonstrate CPR using a Manikin (including the use of an AED). 
  • 3.3 Identify when to place a casualty into the recovery position.
  • 3.4 Demonstrate how to place a casualty into the recovery position.
  • 3.5 Demonstrate continual monitoring of breathing whilst the casualty is in the recovery position.
  • 3.6 Identify how to administer first aid to a casualty who is experiencing a seizure.

4.Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking. 

  • 4.1 Identify when a casualty is choking.
  • 4.2 Demonstrate how to administer first aid to a casualty who is choking.

5. Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding. 

  • 5.1 Identify whether external bleeding is life-threatening.
  • 5.2 Demonstrate how to administer first aid to a casualty with external bleeding.

6. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock.

  • 6.1 Recognise when a casualty is suffering from shock.
  • 6.2 Identify how to administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock.

7. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries.

  • 7.1 Identify how to administer first aid to a casualty with: • Small cuts • Grazes • Bruises • Small splinters • Nose Bleeds .
  • 7.2 Identify how to administer first aid to a casualty with minor burns and scalds.

Emergency First Aid at Work for Forestry Workers Level 3 (VTQ) Additional Subjects

  • Severe cuts deriving from chainsaws, axes etc, 
  • Lyme Disease
  • Crush Injuries
  • Hypothermia
  • Tourniquets and Haemostatic agents.
