Anaphylaxis Awareness Level 2 (VTQ)

The Anaphylaxis Awareness Level 2 (VTQ) is aimed at anyone who requires knowledge of allergies & anaphylaxis, & how to administer first aid in the event of an anaphylaxis reaction. The course covers the use of Epi-Pens, Emerade and Jext as well as recognition of signs, treatment, concerns and activating the EMS as well as caring for the patient.

 This course is available as a one to one session at your place of work or home. 

The course syllabus is designed to comply with and exceed the UK and European Resuscitation Councils Guidelines 2015 and the Health and Safety Executives requirements under the Health & Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981 and all subsequent updates including the 1st October 2017 changes.  

All Every Second Counts First Aid & Safety Training's courses are evaluated for quality assurance to ensure we comply with these regulations and are independently certified as conforming with universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Guidelines. 

These courses come with a certified CPD Statement of 3 hours.

1. Understanding what Anaphylaxis is.

• 1.1 Recognise what Anaphylaxis is.
• 1.2 Identify common symptoms associated with Anaphylaxis. 
• 1.3 Understand what triggers an Anaphylactic shock.
• 1.4 Recognise different types of sudden reactions (Uni-phasic / Bi-phasic). 
• 1.5 Identify and list common causes. 
• 1.6 Demonstrate how to treat an Anaphylactic shock. 

2. Be able to recognise seizures and deliver the correct treatment where necessary.

• 2.1 Know how to treat a casualty who is suffering from a seizure.
• 2.2 Be able to know different types of auto-injectors and their requirements. 
• 2.3 Demonstrate the safe use of an auto-injector.
• 2.4 Know when auto-injectors expire and how to get them replaced. 
• 2.5 Understand safe storage requirements. 
• 2.6 Understand what to do with an allergic reaction. 

3. Understand workplace requirements. 

• 3.1 Know who is responsible in the workplace or home.
